10 Best Acoustic Guitar Songs

One of the first bands that come to mind when I think of the best acoustic guitar songs is CCR. They are famous for their catchy yet easy songs to play on acoustic guitar and I personally never get tired of playing them. Depending on your skill level, you may need acoustic guitar lessons to excel at some of these songs.

Bad Moon Rising is probably the best acoustic guitar song to start out with as it is a nice 3 chord arrangement that most beginners should not have much trouble with. This is truly a great song to play on most guitar instruments but stick to the acoustic, as you’ll get a lot more out of it. Sticking with the CCR theme, I also have a blast playing Have You Ever Seen The Rain. It’s a song you can really lose yourself in.

Some people think that you need to be an expert before attempting to play the acoustic guitar but in all honesty it is the exact opposite…at least for me it was. We’re not all going to start out with Hotel California acoustic version but there are many we can master such as Wonderwall. This is a great song to get your strumming rhythm going strong.

Metallica isn’t the first band that comes to mind when you think of good acoustic guitar songs but they have a couple that will blow you away and the one I really love to play is Nothing Else Matters. This is a finger picking song and it has really progressed my finger picking strength after playing it a few times.

Wanted Dead or Alive, by Bon Jovi, was one of the first songs I ever learned to play on the acoustic guitar. It has a great melody to it with a few hammer-ons and pull-offs that makes it one of the most challenging and fun to play acoustic songs.

A newer song that you might not be familiar with is Your Decision by AIC. It has a nice 3-chord arrangement that continues throughout the song with electric guitar parts over top. Not a solely acoustic guitar song but still great and easy to play. Another by AIC is Don’t Follow. A little more leaning towards mid-to-hard but it is a great skill builder for your finger picking style if you choose. It can be played with a pick as well.

The Slash master is truly a god of guitar and the acoustic is included. Patience is a masterpiece and is a chord progression that you can just sit and strum away to forever. It is one of those arrangements that you can build on yourself if you just keep experimenting with it.

And finally to top of this list of moderately easy acoustic guitar songs, The Unicorn by The Irish Rovers was one of my favorite folk songs as a kid and it’s one of my favorites to play on the acoustic today.

There are literally thousands of easy guitar songs to play but these are just a small list of my all time favorites. Enjoy!
