Learning to play the guitar is one of the most satisfying and rewarding things you can ever do in your life. Easy rock guitar songs are a very good place to start because of the straight forward beats and rhythms. When I first started I chose some really easy guitar songs to play such as songs from CCR and The Beatles. Very fun and not overly challenging, easy rock songs for guitar allow you to have fun while still building the important skills in tempo and tone.
There are a lot of modern day bands that have some really songs to learn. It seems that many bands these days have gotten away from the technically difficult styles of the past and focus on simpler styles now. One band that has some easy rock guitar songs for beginners is Billy Talent, and another band is Three Days Grace. Very power chord oriented, these two bands offer a perfect starting place for a fledging guitarist to build their skills.
Without a doubt, if I were to vote which is most beneficial, either a hard versus easy rock guitar song for long term learning, I would choose the latter. Frustration can build into quitting if too challenging of songs are chosen to try and learn on. Progress is a much better motivator than frustration.

Ok so these are probably not going to all be songs you’re familiar with or even like but try out a few and see how you do with them and don't worry about what guitar intruments you choose to play on. These easy guitar songs rock when you get practicing with them. Once you master this list, move on to some more difficult songs to play and keep progressing your skill level.
