Ibanez Electric Guitars

I have been an endorser of Ibanez electric guitars for close to twenty years. The mix of affordability, quality, great tone and looks make them an obvious choice for many musicians that may or may not be on a tighter budget. Straight up honest, I chose my first Ibanez electric guitar because of the quality and tone, not for the price. The Japanese luthiers at Ibanez have always had their shit together. Back in their early days of copying well known models, they were pretty skillful but when they started making their own distinct models in the late 1970’s, this is where they really started to show their quality and innovative side.

For the prodigy guitarists out there, there are left handed Ibanez electric guitars for you such as the RG and GRX models. Both models are of great quality and the GRX is trimmed down on features just slightly and is a very good price for entry level players.

The Iceman is one of my all time favorite Ibanez electric bass guitars. Its shape will go down in history as one of the most notable along with its sister, the Black Eagle. Both guitars are already cult classics among the not-so-mainstream nostalgia purists. My preference these days is towards 5 string bass guitars in which Ibanez is becoming quite famous for producing.

Should you be seeking the cream of the Ibanez electric guitars lineup, it is the Prestige models that you’re after. Made in Japan by the finest guitar makers the country has to offer and have the highest end electronics and hardware. Some of the Prestige models are equipped with Ibanez’ own electronics and some are fitted with EMG, Seymour Duncan, DiMarzio, etc. These are some fantastic quality guitars. The RG Prestige models have a great heavy metal tone and the speed and strength of the Wizard style necks are not matched by any other guitar instruments maker.

Let’s not forget the acoustic guitars that Ibanez makes. I bought a Montage model last year and I’ve never had such a versatile acoustic in my life. This specific Ibanez acoustic electric guitar is created for the all around gig monster. It will play clear and crisp hall style songs all the way up to heavily distorted metal. It is a very strange and beautiful guitar. Beautiful as in the tones it creates, not its looks because it is actually a rather ugly beast :) .

I have a modest collection of Ibanez guitars that I started just over twenty years ago. Some have been traded or sold over the years but my most favorites have been kept and I will never part with them. I especially like it when I come across an old one in a pawn shop or in the newspaper that needs some minor touchup work. Those are the gems that you really hope to find. The latest find I came across was an original 1977 Ibanez Iceman 6 string.
